Andy Irons Memorial :(

This is not the original… don’t know why they would have pulled it down. A little upset over it, but I will post a replacement.

Hit me on my Pre-Pay

Am I ahead of the curve… or behind?

I feel special – Only 8% of the american public are considering standard cell phone purchases in the future. Which happens to be the exact same percentage of people considering the new Windows phone.

What happened America? Apple used to own only 8% of the ENTIRE computing world… and now they own everything. Yin Yang – maybe a Windows Phone will be my future? Their ad campaign is certainly genius enough.

But since they don’t allow you embed their commercials (horrible microsoft – but traditional to your brand) – they just got dropped to almost.

Not for me.

Hide and Go Media – Concept

‘Hide And Go Media’ Temporary gallery installations 6-12 month installations:

Infrastructure (must be inexpensive):

Downtown commercial space near colleges (slightly off the beaten path)
Simple beverage snack bar (coffee – Hydle has the hook up)
Wifi (must capture audience and allow users to upload)
Electricity (helps sometimes)
Simple gallery decor, white / black walls ready for audience art and participation
Modern comfortable lounge furniture
As much street side glass as possible (so when it is closed the media can still play and crowds accumulate at the store front)
Need hot event coordinator to book events, preferably single…

Concept:

Media age has caused every individual to amass absurd amounts of video. So much we have no use for it all, or even have the time to look at it. Concept create a physical space for people to bring, create it on the fly, dump it and show it. No need to edit, just push play and watch ourselves raw 24-7. We can set it up for all media, from 8mm, 16mm, VHS, digital etc. Fill the space with as many screens and projections, displays as possible, gotta have the overwhelming factor. It could be almost like a ‘Physical Facebook Space’, almost mocking in nature. Allow people leave a picture / video of themselves by instant up load to the server. Feed the ‘disease of me.’ It could be a place to blog old school, by writing on the actual walls with real pens, paint etc. The gallery space would morph based on the city and culture. Travel city to city, start in Austin, TX. At the end take a picture and hit DELETE!

How to make money:

Private events
Concerts
Donations to Joel’s Foundation / Film Schools
Sell lots of coffee
Sell real art (the good stuff)

I Couldn’t Say It Any Better

[iDevice Link] <— 758,162 views 21st century enlightenment • bringing discourse to life • tackling social challenges I'm becoming a super fan of theRSA.org – But don’t visit their website because it is atrocious. You can’t preach such amazingly inspiring ideas yet follow the exact same “paradigm of crappy web design”. My jingle.

Almost Genius.

Lucky they have an app for that.

“LeBron James asks for advice. In this spot, James seems to only stir up the antipathy that was directed toward him around his overly-publicized move to Miami. Doth he protest too much?”

Wieden + Kennedy Portland are still at it.
Basketball – welcome back.

Yay for Golden – I Miss Home

Golden Parks and Recreation National Gold Medal Award Winner

The American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration (AAPRA), in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), announced the City of Golden Parks and Recreation Department the Grand Plaque Recipient of the National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Parks and Recreation Management. The award was announced live during NRPA’s Annual Congress and Exposition in Minneapolis, MN on Wednesday, Oct. 27. Golden was nominated as a finalist for the award for the second consecutive year.

The Gold Medal Award honors communities throughout the United States that demonstrate excellence in long-range planning, resource management, volunteerism, environmental stewardship, program development, professional development and agency recognition. Each agency is judged on its ability to address the needs of those it serves through the collective energies of citizens, staff and elected officials.

“The Golden Medal Award recognizes our department as one of the top four national leaders in the provision of high quality parks and recreation, the highest honor in the parks and recreation profession,” said Rod Tarullo, Director of Parks, Recreation and Golf.

A requirement for finalists, the Golden Parks and Recreation Department submitted a video demonstrating parks and recreation in Golden. View ”Golden in Golden.” Golden competed for the Gold Medal Award with three other finalists in population category 25,000 and below including the City of Green River Parks and Recreation Department, WY, the City of Fairfax, VA and the City of Cullman Parks and Recreation, AL.
