Hugh MacLeod – I Found Joy
“Sometimes being happy is just a choice. It’s just what you look for every day. In your work, in love, in friendships.
It’s really about how you view your place on earth. You look for joy, and that’s what you’ll find.
We all know people who make the ‘other’ choice. Nothing is good enough. They find fault everywhere. Their default mode is discontent.
For a lucky few, they eventually reach the abyss. The point at which being confronted with the dire-ness which is their life, becomes transformative.
Instead they choose joy.
Everything becomes better.
It takes nothing more than changing an attitude.
Today, take the hand of someone who you think should choose differently.”

Kristian Anderson sadly passed away two weeks ago from cancer... he was made famous from this video he made for his wife’s birthday. The video went viral… they appeared on oprah… she gave them $250,000 to help cover medical bills and he passed away early this year. Very sad, but truly inspirational.

Kelly Sildaru – Freestyle Skiing Progression
[Vimeeeeo] <— 39,000 The future of women's freeskiing just popped up in the form of 10 year old Kelly Sildaru.. And where was this facility when I was growing up?
Who wants to open a freestyle training facility like this here in Denver? We weren’t allowed to play play play like this in gymnastics as a kid. We’ll call it Scorphy Raddogs.
Hugh MacLeod – I Cannot
This is really about leadership. Leaders understand, often innately, what it takes to inspire action.
Inspired action is a much different animal than top down directed action.
Inspired people will walk through fire to achieve their goal. Directed people are in it for the paycheck.
It was the difference between the Roman legions and mercenary adversaries.
It is why so many businesses these days are focussed on finding their true purpose, and why we spend a lot of our time helping companies communicate that purpose.
Purpose allows for inspired action with amazing results.

Moving forward from a traumatic brain injury, I'm looking forward to seeing the entire film.
“On January 3rd, 2011 Danny Toumarkine took a horrible fall while snowboarding in Montana. Danny was care flighted to a local hospital where he spent the next 33 days. During his time at the hospital Danny underwent 4 brain surgeries as a result of impact trauma to the left side of his head. Danny is very lucky to be alive. This video is a trailer to the full length video which will be released on January 10th, 2012. It documents the time before and after the injury and will come out a week after Danny’s return to the snow.”

As 2011 draws to a close and 2012 comes upon us... I would like to insert the event of losing Steve Jobs as the most impactful story that crossed my life this past year. Welcome to the memory bank Steve, you were here before and you will forever remain.
More on this from me to come at a later date...
For now you can consume these.

Hugh MacLeod – Create Collaborate
You have your individual creative moments, and you have your creative collaboration moments.
They feed on each other. Even cartooning, as in my case, it’s a fairly lonely craft, however it too relies on the feedback loop I get from the people who help me run gapingvoid- Jason and Laura, namely.
It’s something that gets clearer to me as I get older- that all good things feed on other good things, and feed them back.
It’s the wheel of life, it’s the wheel of being. This reality will never change… and Thank Goodness for that

Colin Bane — Kevin Pearce Rides Again
“Pearce said his injury and the intense recovery process have taught him more than he ever hoped to know about traumatic brain injuries. “I think the most important thing that I can share with folks about traumatic brain injuries is that your brain never stops healing,” he said. “You can heal as much as you want as long as you keep your mind to it and work hard. I think it’s really hard for a lot of kids because they think they’re in such bad shape that they just give up, and that’s been the most important lesson for me: It’s hard and it takes a lot of work but you can heal.”
Welcome back to the mountain Kevin Pearce. Great work on the article Colin Bane.

Amanda Capper — on Tim Tebow
Question: Ms Capper whats your take on your star QB Tim Tebow?!
“Amanda Capper Well . . . . long take to short: I’m a bronco fan. All ways. If we’re winning, we’re winning. I believe he’s shown he has the ability to progress which is about as important as it gets in terms of developing the style of collegiate ball he played/plays. He’s got to throw the ball, no doubt about it. Last week, his passing looked the best so far in my opinion and it’ll open up our offense tremendously if he finds more targets than Decker and Thomas. His awareness in the pocket is incredible to watch and his athletic ability is undeniable. I think his will to win is infectious in a way I’ve never seen. I’d like to see what he does for a season or two, hoping Elway takes him under his wing because, honestly, there’d be no better ‘coach/mentor’ from a QB standpoint. I haven’t gone out and purchased a #15 jersey yet but I’m happy to see him in orange and blue. We can easily win out with only one away game in Buffalo……we’ll have to wait and see how the man continues to lead us ♥♥♥”
