Prayers for Sarah Burke

Social networking informed me of another very unfortunate accident in skiing this evening. I have been obtaining information on Sarah Burke’s half pipe accident this afternoon at Park City and will hopefully know more soon. My prayers go out to Sarah and her family and our entire industry that continues to evolve at insane levels. The severity of Sarah’s injuries is unknown, but as Kristi Leskinen states… “The situation is very serious”.

Happy New Year Impact

[YouTube] <— 3,688 As 2011 draws to a close and 2012 comes upon us... I would like to insert the event of losing Steve Jobs as the most impactful story that crossed my life this past year. Welcome to the memory bank Steve, you were here before and you will forever remain. More on this from me to come at a later date... For now you can consume these. [WIRED — Steven Levy]

Colin Bane — Kevin Pearce Rides Again

“Pearce said his injury and the intense recovery process have taught him more than he ever hoped to know about traumatic brain injuries. “I think the most important thing that I can share with folks about traumatic brain injuries is that your brain never stops healing,” he said. “You can heal as much as you want as long as you keep your mind to it and work hard. I think it’s really hard for a lot of kids because they think they’re in such bad shape that they just give up, and that’s been the most important lesson for me: It’s hard and it takes a lot of work but you can heal.”

Welcome back to the mountain Kevin Pearce. Great work on the article Colin Bane.

Amanda Capper — on Tim Tebow

Question: Ms Capper whats your take on your star QB Tim Tebow?!

“Amanda Capper Well . . . . long take to short: I’m a bronco fan. All ways. If we’re winning, we’re winning. I believe he’s shown he has the ability to progress which is about as important as it gets in terms of developing the style of collegiate ball he played/plays. He’s got to throw the ball, no doubt about it. Last week, his passing looked the best so far in my opinion and it’ll open up our offense tremendously if he finds more targets than Decker and Thomas. His awareness in the pocket is incredible to watch and his athletic ability is undeniable. I think his will to win is infectious in a way I’ve never seen. I’d like to see what he does for a season or two, hoping Elway takes him under his wing because, honestly, there’d be no better ‘coach/mentor’ from a QB standpoint. I haven’t gone out and purchased a #15 jersey yet but I’m happy to see him in orange and blue. We can easily win out with only one away game in Buffalo……we’ll have to wait and see how the man continues to lead us ♥♥♥”

Poor Boyz Productions – Revolver

Underworld = 2012 London Olympic Music Directors

“The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) today announced that British electronic music pioneers Underworld have been appointed Music Directors for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The appointment completes the team of senior creatives that will lead the direction of the London 2012 Ceremonies.

Underworld duo Rick Smith and Karl Hyde will work alongside Oscar winning British filmmaker and producer Danny Boyle, Artistic Director of the Opening Ceremony and will be responsible for all the music in the three-hour ceremony taking place on 27 July next summer.“

Now I am officially excited to watch the opening ceremonies for the London 2012 summer olympic games.

Red Bull – Ping Pong

[YouTubeUlar] <— 303 Mark Huebner, Phil Coan and I played Ping Pong against professionals today. How fitting it would be for Red Bull to totally hoax the NBA basketball season with this small bit with Blake Griffin. This is comical - could have been better... but just professionally cheesy enough to make it fun to watch. In our professional match against Eric from France... Mark and I tied. He lost 3-11 and then 2-11 for a total of 5 scored points. I lost 0-11 and 5-11 for a total of 5 scored points. Next Tuesday at SHASH! at EXDO we will do [BETTER <— 9,787,065 views]

Uh oh! I have an iPhone Again

After 2 and a half years of “Hit me on my pre-pay!” and GoPhone calculator simplicity… I have finally stepped back into the iPhone world. I can honestly say that I haven’t missed being technical, the trendy factor of owning Apple devices definitely pushed me away from playing in this arena for a while – But now I’m back.

JP Auclair – All.I.Can

[Vimeeeee-Oh-Yeah!] <— 68,500 Finally able to watch JP Auclair's incredible urban segment in All.I.Can. When watching this film live in a theater - this was definitely a crowd pleaser and definitely one of the most entertaining skiing segments I have seen in quite some time. Strong work JP. Email reply from JP on December 5th, 2011 —

“Yeah.. pretty nuts.. the thing is going to hit 400K within the first week.. The Sherpas and I are still trying to wrap our heads around why it caught on like that. Must be the back flip, can’t go wrong with a backie!”

Nabor Spencer — An Artists Rendition

On March 23rd, 2011 we had a friend hit the hospital due to an unknown circumstance. Below is a transcript of our email conversations along with an artist’s conception of present Spencer vs. future Spencer by John Kelly.

Does anybody know how our friend is doing?

Besides the text last night I haven’t heard anything.

I have inquired…no response.

I did not recieve this text last night. What did it say?

All I remember is he can fart out his penis.

I got a text from him… He is feeling fine. He is going to have to have surgery and he will be in the hospital for a week and a half. I will try to find out which hospital.

Surfing – Kelly Slater 11x World Champion

[YouTubular!] <— 305,748

Quiksilver’s Kelly Slater clinched an historic and unprecedented 11th ASP World Title today in the cold and challenging waters of San Francisco’s Ocean Beach. Slater, 39, is the first surfer to achieve 11 ASP World Titles, an accomplishment spanning two decades of an astounding career during which he has dominated competitive surfing as both the youngest and oldest ASP World Champion.

Good find Jim – thanks for the share.

Music = Every Kingdom – Ben HowardBlack Flies

Hugh MacLeod – Begin or End

There are few things sadder than seeing someone give up. And by the same token, seeing someone walk through life waiting to wake up. These people want something out of life, but they can’t put their finger on it, and so they wait. They wait for something to simply fall out of the sky and many times (if not always) their wait is in vain.

I don’t want to get into a discussion about fate or whatever that would imply for a person in this situation, but sometimes one has to decide to live. Not for someone or something else–but solely for their own happiness and contentment.
It can be hard, sometimes, to get out of this mindset, that things will just happen or work themselves out on their own. We have infinite potential to change our impact on the world and with the people around us.

All one has to do is act.

Project Montana

I just returned from a week long project in Montana. Lets just say spirits are lifted again and it’s time to tell a new story. This year is all about family. To view this project in creation – I would suggest grabbing your tickets to the 11th annual Craig Hospital PUSH dinner on March 2nd, 2012 here.
