Miss You Breezy

20120419-131812.jpg

Do you get… What you got?

What an incredible celebration of the life of Frank Breezy Brzezicki today. For a 92 year old who would still shoot his age on the golf course… you were an inspiration in so many ways. Your service in the Air Force will never be forgotten. I’ve never witnessed a service where they honor a serviceman… and how inspiring it was.

Uncle Tom, Dennis, Corey and Brian… I absolutely love learning about this man in more ways than I selfishly never took the time to do on my own. I guess we were too busy golfing, drinking, or making crazy faces with that abnormally amazing smile when we were hanging out.

I will miss our playing days Breeze. Rest in peace.

Seth Godin – The Coalition of No

Subscribe to the good words of Seth Godin

It’s easy to join.

There are a million reasons to say no, but few reasons to stand up and say yes.

No requires just one objection, one defensible reason to avoid change. No has many allies–anyone who fears the future or stands to benefit from the status quo. And no is easy to say, because you actually don’t even need a reason.

No is an easy way to grab power, because with yes comes responsibility, but no is the easy way to block action, to exert the privilege of your position to slow things down.

No comes from fear and greed and, most of all, a shortage of openness and attention. You don’t have to pay attention or do the math or role play the outcomes in order to join the coalition that would rather things stay as they are (because they’ve chosen not to do the hard work of imagining how they might be).

And yet the coalition of No keeps losing. We live in a world of yes, where possibility and innovation and the willingness to care often triumph over the masses that would rather it all just quieted down and went back to normal.

Yes is the new normal. And just in time.

HYDLE – Steamboat

[YouTubeUlar]

So after a massive dump in Steamboat… Drew Stachnik, Brian Goldrich and new friend Eric Bojan and I decided to rally like 12 year olds. It’s always good to visit your childhood roots.

I’ve never heard of this band “Big Gigantic” before we took a little warming hut rest in the yurt above the Pony Express and some guy popped it on the donated stereo. It is hard for me to say what their boulder following is all about, but it was good enough to edit to.

Just remember… two dudes in a hot tub – is okay – if it’s in the day.

Rock on!

Chipotle – Back to the start

[YouTube] <— 4,429,478 [Behind the Scenes] <— 44,751 Congratulations to Chipotle for airing their first national television commercial. Back to the Start was a YouTube web release back in August and carries you through the story of Chipotle, told through the practices of a farmer.

“The film, by film-maker Johnny Kelly, depicts the life of a farmer as he slowly turns his family farm into an industrial animal factory before seeing the errors of his ways and opting for a more sustainable future. Both the film and the soundtrack were commissioned by Chipotle to emphasize the importance of developing a sustainable food system.”

1000% Genius – should have been a Super Bowl ad.

This is Country Music

We had an amazing time at the Brad Paisley concert in Denver last night. I don’t know what this country music thing is all about, but after meeting Brad and getting the opportunity to see such a “large performance” show like this with such good company — my cowboy hat continues to come out.

As my country inspiration from Montana – Jesse Alberi states via the Facebook

“Just keep wearin the hat and boots and the country will find you. I Just watched on youtube what you saw live last night… jealous bro.”

It was an incredibly entertaining show with Scotty McCreery, The Band Perry and even Tim Tebow. Watch this as the Band Perry drops for the most epic Tebowing of all time while Brad Paisley and Tebow sang “I’m Still a Guy.” Saying it got loud… is an understatement.

[YouTubeUlar] <— 0 Surprisingly, The Band Perry did NOT sing "Walk Me Down the Middle". Katherine was the proud winner of a Brad Paisley guitar pick. I learned about dog-tags of fallen soldiers. Brad's dad Doug is a story teller. It was a sold out show. Katie + Ryan + Trista... thank you for such a fun night. Here are some highlights.

After getting back to the internets to research some of this country music thing, I found a direct explanation from Brad Paisley’s 3.6 million strong Facebook page. This is Country Music. Pretty cool.

Enjoy.

Colin Bane — Kevin Pearce Rides Again

“Pearce said his injury and the intense recovery process have taught him more than he ever hoped to know about traumatic brain injuries. “I think the most important thing that I can share with folks about traumatic brain injuries is that your brain never stops healing,” he said. “You can heal as much as you want as long as you keep your mind to it and work hard. I think it’s really hard for a lot of kids because they think they’re in such bad shape that they just give up, and that’s been the most important lesson for me: It’s hard and it takes a lot of work but you can heal.”

Welcome back to the mountain Kevin Pearce. Great work on the article Colin Bane.

Nabor Spencer — An Artists Rendition

On March 23rd, 2011 we had a friend hit the hospital due to an unknown circumstance. Below is a transcript of our email conversations along with an artist’s conception of present Spencer vs. future Spencer by John Kelly.

Does anybody know how our friend is doing?

Besides the text last night I haven’t heard anything.

I have inquired…no response.

I did not recieve this text last night. What did it say?

All I remember is he can fart out his penis.

I got a text from him… He is feeling fine. He is going to have to have surgery and he will be in the hospital for a week and a half. I will try to find out which hospital.
