K-Swiss – Tubes

[iDevice Link] <—22,000 views

Excellent quick informative and simple. 72andSunny nails it with this quickly consumable campaign. Using Kenny Powers to full success and a light cross promotion with season 2 of East Bound and Down – The simple microsite sold me on these shoes and I now want a pair of tubes.

Bad vibe on the busted facebook link but excellent use of 1-888-WITH-TUBES-I-WILL-TRAIN-THE-F-OUT for a creative 10% off coupon.

If you don’t like them – change your mind.

Where The Hell Is Matt?

We’ve all seen Matt’s original 2005 Dancing Video. Now catchup with Matt if you haven’t in a while and watch this video

Talking about how he made this video

But don’t forget that this is all a gigantic hoax.
Where the hell is Matt now?

Get a Mac – Recap

ADFEAK.com has a complete linking writeup of every ‘GET A MAC’ ad from TBWA’s 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 Apple ad campaign.

Always good to revisit success. Director Phil Morrison – Genius.

Super Cool

Another great example on how the power of the internets keeps content alive. This could quite possibly be my new favorite commercial.

Posted in 2007 for LA Animal Services – Director Jane File (seejanedirect.com) absolutely kills it with this one. Simply Genius.

Now I want a dog :)

Old Spice Guy Links

1. Creativity.

Wieden + Kennedy Portland and Old Spice’s The Man Your Man Could Smell Like, aka Isaiah Mustafa, continue their marathon of manly manliness with more personalized video responses to the brand’s online following. Since yesterday, TMYMCSL has smoldered directly at the unknown and the well-known, including Ashton Kutcher, Mrs. Ashton Kutcher, Gears of War lead designer Cliff Bleszinski, um, yours truly and, in a brilliant meta-manly move, Isaiah Mustafa. He even delivered a marriage proposal, which was eventually accepted.

According to art director Craig Allen, the agency and Mustafa will be continuing the responses through today, so tune into the Old Spice YouTube page to see if Isaiah will single you out and check back here for a Q&A with the team that made it happen.

2. NYDailyNews.com

He also customized videos for a string of celebrity admirers, including Ashton Kutcher, Ellen DeGeneres, Ryan Seacrest, blogger Perez Hilton and Olympian Apollo Ohno.

“Can the Old Spice guy do ads for ALL the world’s products?!” tweeted actress Justine Bateman, echoing the sentiments of enraptured fans everywhere.

Top 10 June Viral

The top 10 picks for June, with links to view on YouTube:

1. adidas – ‘Star Wars’ Cantina 2010, agency: Sid Lee
2. Volkswagen – The Slide (Driven by Fun), agency: Trial DDB
3. Head – Andy Murray Street Magic in London, agency: n/a
4. Iceland – Visit Iceland, agency: n/a
5. Coca-Cola Zero & Mentos – The Coke Zero & Mentos Rocket Car, agency: EepyBird
6. Orbit Gum – The Prom Date, agency: Energy BBDO
7. McDonald’s & Coca-Cola – T-Shirt Wars 2, agency: n/a
8. GMC – Dude Perfect: The Cliff Jump Shot, agency: Leo Burnett
9. Sapporo – Legendary Biru, agency: Dentsu
10. Lynx Rise – Jessica Jane Clement – Her Best Bits, agency: n/a

I’m pretty NOT impressed with this list of virals. We have a couple sellouts here… Rhett and Link did a good job communicating with their audience while pushing a professional commercial out – good job to them. Dude perfect on the other hand I was not so impressed with. EepyBird is somehow still making a living by selling out to sugar water, good for them – at least they are consistent in their delivery.

Overall it just seems like people are trying to damn hard to get it right. If I had to pick a winner – I like the Volkswagen concept, but not the video they pushed out. Sapporo took me on an adventure and Lynx was the only video I continued a click through on — I wonder why.

Until next month – get some strange.

Keller Art

I would buy one.

In fact – I just arranged with my brother that once he figures out how to autograph his name, I am going to be the purchaser of Keller James Hydle’s first masterpiece.

Could be a couple years time for the next artistic genius impression, so I would suggest you get in line.

Framable refrigerator art by Keller James – Followed by the soon to be released drum solo album available on iTunes next month.

Genius.

Video of the Day – Freediving

[iPhone Link]

Genius and scary. I don’t even know what it’s for or if this is completely real, but I intend to find out.

1. Dean’s Blue Hole – this is no joke.
2. Guillaume Nery is no joke either – but considering the deepest any freediver has ever gone in the blue hole is 120 metres (394 ft) – just last month – I do not believe Guillaume actually made it to the bottom. Still, this is ridiculously insane and opens up an entire new world to a sport I knew existed, but had no idea s to what capacity it was being taken.

Excellent work goes out to Bluenery Productions with a quick 1 month turn around on this project.
