Looking backwards two years … makes me look forward two years. Downhill mountain biking is really fun, but damn – this is some commitment. Good luck bro! But you can take this one down well well well before me :)

I’ll stick to the Silky Johnson … which just feels ohhhh so nice.

FYTB – Broncos vs Patriots Recap

[YouTubeUlar] <— 1076

“In what could have been his last game in the Mile High City Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos toppled Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in a defensive slugfest 20-18.

Tom Brady threw two interceptions on the day to Von Miller and Darian Stewart. The Denver Defense hit Brady all game long, and Terrific Tom only found the end-zone once late in the game to Rob Gronkwoski. Manning threw 2 touchdown passes to Owen Daniels, and for the second game in a row threw zero interceptions.

The Broncos will face the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, and will be led by DeMarcus Ware and the Denver D.”

Wendy Fisher = SUPER MOM

[Vimeeeee0]

Coming straight from I Love Awesomeness…

“Let me explain ourselves a little bit. There are a few de facto standards of awesome things in this world. Snow sports and skiing are of course one of them… creativity and creative thinking are another… and the third most important ingredient to awesomeness in this world are *moms*. Never forget that all the awesomeness people alive on the planet today… had to come from an awesome mom.

This short movie reflects on quite a few of our awesome principals. We grew up watching Wendy Fisher in ski movies … now 41 (at time of shooting) and *mother* of two children she’s been put to the test to see if she still has it. Mike Douglas of Switchback Productions put this movie together two years ago and won best short at the 2014 Powder awards. Wendy’s fall at the 6 minute mark is sketchy at best … but like any championy awesome mom – she gets right back up to show off her awesomely beautiful technique of making skiing look absolutely effortless. Cheers to you Wendy … now what should we laser for this SUPER MOM!?”

I know for a fact your mom can’t ski like this … mine can! But your mom – no. Haha – That still doesn’t mean you shouldn’t ski with her this season. Be sure you get your mom out on the hill, or a big wheel … and document it! Love you mom!

Don’t let me explain this to you… just watch it. It’s moving. Literally.

“How do you build a community based on trust, communication and beauty? Though teamwork, curiosity and trust Fractal Tribe shows you a stunning solution.

Fractal Tribe is a badass and sexy tribe of artists, engineers, and performers who produce consistent performance art that is not to be missed. Their skill in combining theatrics with dance, fire, acrobatics, aerial arts, and music creates more than a show but a full visual, auditory and kinesthetic experience. In addition to creating provocative and inspiring entertainment pieces, Fractal Tribe also enjoys leading workshops, developing community and sustainability projects, and exploring cutting edge performance technologies. Fractal Tribe’s high level mission is to inspire individuals to realize their own intrinsic value and actualize their true potential within their individual communities. By doing they hope to fractalize the model of non-competitive empowerment groups everywhere.

Disc Golf Catchup

[YouTubeUlar] <— 45,375

Spent a lot of time recapping the world of Frisbee Golf last night. LOT to catch up on, but this is a pretty good playoff series from last year at worlds with some clutch shots by Paul McBeth.

“A sudden death playoff would decide the 2014 PDGA men’s open world championship, the first time that’s happened since 2009 (and only the third time in MPO history). Paul McBeth and Ricky Wysocki square off in an epic contest for the ages in Portland.”

The Important Places

Yesterday Teton Gravity Research posted this video on FB, and what drew me in to watch  the ten minute film was the description they posted along with it “This is one of the most powerful short films that I have watched in a long time.”

The story is about a son who is seeing his aging father begin to withdraw slowly – due to age – from the things that once made him so passionate about life.

A poem that his father wrote for him as a baby has stuck with him since childhood, and so the son challenges his aging father to reconnect with what inspired him in his younger years, and to go back to what he knows is an important place for his father.

They embark on a 28 day boating trip down the Grand Canyon together, and the words that this father had written to his son begin to take on a new significance and understanding for the son.

I can’t stop watching, and sharing this video. I even made Greg and our friend Drew come upstairs right after I finished watching it so they could watch it with me on the Apple TV. It’s an emotional film, and for me, has extra significance because just three months ago, I was embarking on my own 21 day trip down the Grand Canyon with some close friends, and I think this captures some of the magic that is unexplainable, but always happens when you’re on extended adventures that push your normal comfort zone.

I think this film challenges us to all think, what are your important places? Where would you go back to, if you could? What have you maybe distanced yourself from, that in the past has brought you joy?

The poem and the film speak for themselves. The best way to describe them is simple – powerful.

The Important Places

Child of mine, come as you go
In youth you will learn, these secret places
The cave behind the waterfall
The arms of the oak that hold you high
The stars so near on a desert ledge
The important places
And as with age, you choose your own way
Among the many faces of a busy world
May you always remember the path that leads back
Back to the important places
