Bo Bridges – Winter X Games Aspen 2013

[Vimeeeeeeo] <— 845 views As Bo Bridges would like to say… it is almost go time.

Winter X Games 2013 is now upon us. As usual – ESPN’s website is atrocious to find relevant information – but here is a direct link to the Schedule of Aired Events in Eastern Standard Time … calculate your own viewing experience.

If you are heading to Aspen to celebrate in the fun, here is the Schedule You Want To Look At which is the same link as above but you must click RESULTS on the secondary tab to see the event times (Only now in Mountain Standard Time). Makes a ton of sense right? Blah.

A Complete Recap of the Avalanche at Tunnel Creek

Wow – finally an in depth link at what happened during the Steven’s Pass Avalanche. This is a very in depth and thorough story using all forms of media. My heart goes out to the people involved in this tragedy and I can’t imagine the time it took to put such an incredible story together. Thank you for sharing – and be careful out there friends.

Warning – this will take some time to consume, but it is worth it.

Level 1 Productions – Logan Imlach Sunny Jib Segment

[Vimeeeeeo] — Buy this film on Sunny - Level 1 Sunny – Level 1

Level 1 just dropped Logan Imlach’s Sunny seg as a sneak peak for their iTunes release. I projected this movie again at the World Premier this year. If you haven’t seen it yet, I’m claiming its WELL worth the $13 – do it.

Happy 50 Years Vail

“It was a lifestyle. A totally undefined lifestyle. And you were not judged at all on what you had been, or where you went to school, or whether you had a nickel… or a million bucks. None of it mattered. Everybody was evaluated for what kind of person they were… what kind of sense of humor they had. And it was a given that everybody was there because they loved the mountains.”
– John McBride

Happy 50th anniversary to Vail. I can’t say it you are like nothing else on earth, but I can definitely say that you are unique and I have enjoyed skiing you. Not as much as I have enjoyed skiing and growing up at my home mountain of Winter Park, Colorado – which celebrates 73 years of awesomeness this year – But I certainly am excited to take it down your backside on a hefty powder day.

HYDLE – TSOIGDH

In the history of HYDLE.com… this ridiculous “TSOIGDH” entry marks my 999th public blog post since May of 2009 – When I started this crazy world of blogging ideas, thoughts and Genius vs. Not Genius intermanents and social media successes or failures.

So for the sake of getting google credit for it…

“TSOIGDH” = TURNING SHIT ON IT’S GOD DAMN HEAD

Turning shit on it’s god damn head is going to be my 1 single inspiration for the next 999 blogpost entries. I can’t wait to open up my connection layer for all my loyal readers… so I can start finding out who you actually are.

Cheers to 999!

JT Holmes – The First of Many

“This is our first jump together. It is also JT’s first ski BASE jump since that tragic day, March 26, 2009—a date which will live in infamy—when JT survives a ski BASE flight in the Italian Dolomites, but his good friend, wingman, and one of my mentors, Shane McConkey, does not.”

Black Bear and Freedom

[YouTubeUlar] <— 175,686 Thanks to Unofficial Networks for providing us with our feel good video of the week and black bear lesson. Their description is right on par…

“You can tell that the guy is ecstatic to be on snow and that it makes him feel free. Then, he’s back to land and it’s a return to the boring old norm. I think most of us in here can relate…”

… with Warren Miller’s philosophy of skiing giving your freedom.

Josh Dueck – On Ellen

[YouTubeUlar] <— 87,957 Josh Duek continues his trek of inspiration through the ski industry. It is good to follow up with him through Ellen above and a nice Freeskier interview.

“The greater the adversity one faces in life; the greater the opportunity is to grow and learn. When something bad happens there is a build up of energy and how you direct that energy is a choice you make.”

JP Auclair – So Purely Played

[Vimeeeee-O] <— 6,536 No explanation needed... so purely played.

“Skiing, especially powder skiing, provides the ultimate experience of dynamic complex interrelationship between the members of a human group, the gravity of the earth, and the snow from the sky. […] One can never be bored by powder snow skiing because it is a special gift of the relationship between earth and sky. It only comes in sufficient amounts in particular places at certain times on this earth, it lasts only a limited amount of time before before sun or wind changes it. People devote their lives to it, “for the pleasure of being so purely played” by gravity and snow.”

Shane McConkey Trailer

“He’s the most bad ass person on the face of the earth.”
-Travis Pastrana

Looking forward to seeing this RedBull release in 2013. The more I learn about Shane McConkey the crazier and nicer this guy seems to be. To hold you off until the movie is released… party out with some G.N.A.R or this ridiculous recap from last years Pain McShlonkey Classic.

I Love Awesomeness — Overcoming Fears

[YouTubeUlar] <— 1,203,524 This I Love Awesomeness moment comes from Ryan Johnson – Thanks for the share.

4th grader to 4th grader, I’m pretty sure Kelly Sildaru could run circles around this future ski jumper – but competition isn’t what overcoming your fears is about. Personal competition with yourself… now that’s more like it.

What is the latest fear you personally have overcome?

HYDLE – Steamboat

[YouTubeUlar]

So after a massive dump in Steamboat… Drew Stachnik, Brian Goldrich and new friend Eric Bojan and I decided to rally like 12 year olds. It’s always good to visit your childhood roots.

I’ve never heard of this band “Big Gigantic” before we took a little warming hut rest in the yurt above the Pony Express and some guy popped it on the donated stereo. It is hard for me to say what their boulder following is all about, but it was good enough to edit to.

Just remember… two dudes in a hot tub – is okay – if it’s in the day.

Rock on!
